The Marble Caves, Marble Chapel and Marble Cathedral are an unusual geological formation located at the center of the Carrera lake, hidden from view from the coast. They represent a group of caverns, columns and tunnels formed in monoliths of marble. The Marble Caves have been formed by wave action over the last 6,200 years. Their beautiful color is due to a reflection of the lake’s azure waters.
The General Carrera Lake spans the Chile-Argentina border, and it’s one of the ten deepest lakes in the world with a maximum depth of 586 meters.
